URGENT: Unable to see Action links in CiviMail
November 28, 2012, 11:22:10 pm
CiviCRM 4.1.5

Drupal  7.14

I am starting to do some initial testing with CiviCRM 4.1.5 and have send a couple of mailings via UAS, which were successful. When I try to look at the Actions for the Schedule and Sent Mailings, I cannot see any links to the available Actions, such as Report, Reuse, etc. I disabled the custom theme we are using just to see if it was something in that theme that was causing the problem but still could not see the Action links.

Please see the attached screen shot.

I would like to download a copy of 4.1.5 to try to replicate this without in customization. Where can I download that? I have looked on Sourceforge but not sure which link is correct.

This is really urgent. CiviMail is useless without these links.

Dennis - older downloads are always available from Sourceforge. 4.1.5 is at http://sourceforge.net/projects/civicrm/files/civicrm-stable/4.1.5/

Thanks, Dave. I take it, then that this has not been an issue yet. I have searched Jira and nothing popped out as being relevant and nobody else has responded to this.

Haven't heard of this happening. Make sure to check your Drupal Civi-related permissions. Otherwise you'll probably need to debug in CRM/Mailing/Selector/Browse.php getRows() - at least that's where the links are set in 4.2. There was code added I think around 4.1.x to support Rules based workflows in CiviMail. This would affect the actions links - but requires the 'Enable workflow support ..' checkbox in CiviMail Component Settings to be checked AND requires Rules module enabled AND some rules configuration.

CiviCRM Rules Integration is not enabled nor do I see this "Enable workflow support" in the Component Settings but that may be because the Rules Integration is not enabled.

I found the Enable workflow support in the component settings. It is not enabled.

I would expect that if CCRM rules integration is not enabled, then the action list would just be visible. I will enable it to see what happens

the rules integration should not affect the action links if not enabled. Dont have any ideas on why its not showing up in your install

Just to be sure, I did enable Rules Integration and the Workflow component of CiviMail to see if there was an effect. There was not. The Actions were still not visible. Any other ideas or suggestions on how to debug?

I have installed a fresh, clean copy of CiviCRM 4.1.5 with Drupal 7.14. This has the barebones Drupal modules with default themes. I can see the Actions list in the report.

Our developer says the cause appears to have been "...the reuse of hook_civicrm_links(), which we use for other contexts. The CiviMail appears to pass things slightly differently than other documented contexts, and I was clobbering a parameter that I need to initialize in other contexts (i.e., it is normally passed to me null, but not in this case)."

The fix he did works.

would be good for the developer to get on the forums and suggest / contribute patches on how to fix / improve things so other folks dont get bitten with the same issue
