Unexpected Fixed Year Membership Renewal Results
November 29, 2012, 05:32:38 pm
We have a fixed membership from Jan 1st to Dec 31st.  If a member joins anytime before Oct 1st, the membership runs only to Dec 31st of the that year. However, new or renewing memberships between Oct 1st to Dec 31st have an end date of Dec 31st of the following year.

With the above in mind I set up the membership type as: fixed 1 year, starting on Jan 1st, with a fixed period rollover day of Oct 1st. On 11/28/2012 I started processing our first renewals using CiviCRM 4.1 and was surprised at the resulting membership end date. I was expecting an end date of 12/31/2013, but the system is setting it to Oct 1st, 2014 ???

It seems clear to me I have not set the membership type option correctly as I've not found anyone reporting a similar issue. And rereading the documentation has not given me any insight on what I've done incorrectly.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Marty

This sounds like a bug (I wouldn't expect an Oct end date on renewal of a fixed annual membership) - which hopefully has been fixed in the current version (4.2.6). Can you try these steps on the public demo and see what happens?

Thanks for the tip, I just tested it on the demo site and indeed it works as expected. Looks like an immediate upgrade is in order for my site.

Foreign Key Error
December 06, 2012, 08:34:10 am
We've installed 4.2, but when running the sql script to reload the data received the error: #1217 Cannot delete or update a parent row: foreign key constraint fails ... on table civicrm_acl.  This is a relatively small table (11 cols x 66 rows), my first thought is to run a series of quires to identify what record has the problem. But, would appreciate any advice on how to deal with this.
