How to add new Activity Types?
December 10, 2012, 10:08:31 pm
Hi,

How can I add new Activity Types? When I try to assign an activity to a fellow employee, the only options I see are 'Meeting' and 'Phone Call'. I want to be able to add 'Email' and many other options.

To add new activity Type Go to Administrator -> Customize Data and Screens -> Activity Types.

Also if the Contact have enable privacy options DO NOT EMAIL than Email activity will  not listed in Dropdown of Activity Types.

mango :

Make sure the contact has an email address, so that email activity can be filed on it.

If you want to add new activity type, go to Administer >> Customize Data and Screens >>Activity Types,
it will give you a list of all the activity types in the system. If you want to add your own, you can do the same by clicking the
"Add Activity Type" button on the same page.

Please notice that if you have CiviCase switched on, you can select the component the Activity Type belongs to. In this example, it should be Contact. If you set it to Case, you will be able to use the Activity Type on the Case-configuration XML file but will not see it in the list on your Contact form.
