Default "From" Email
March 12, 2008, 05:56:57 pm
This may seem like a stupid question but it's been a bit frustrating to figure out....

How can I change the email address in the "From" field when I "Send an Email" from the basic view on an individual's profile?  Also, is there a way that it could be a list of different emails that I would want it to possibly come from?

Thanks so much!

Le

Sorry, this is not configurable. The from address is hard coded to be your primary email address.

This will be configurable in 2.1. The change is described here:

So, does that mean it is sending it out as whichever user might be logged in?

Yes - 2.0 and earlier versions use the primary email address of the logged in user as the FROM address. This is displayed on the "Send Email" screen as a read-only value.

An odd but workable work around would be to create a user for this purpose with the email address as its primary address.

Just remember research shows that people open emails that are from people they know and branded.

For example skessler@denverdataman.com is better than news@denverdataman.com and steve.kessler@denverdataman.com might even be better.
