Customisable default CiviPage for Wordpress
December 12, 2012, 11:57:52 am
Dear all,

All action hooks in wordpress point to the website top-level page. Thus unsubscribe pages, profile pages etc. will always link to www.domain.com/?page=civicrm. This causes a problem with a large number of wordpress templates, since the index page formatting is very rarely appropriate for displaying a civi form.

The suggested resolution would be to:
  • add a setting in the Administration console, from where a user could choose what page will be the 'parent' for civicrm pages. Thus if I created a page, e.g. CRM, in wordpress, I would be able to link to it from this option panel
  • decide on a default path (e.g. CRM), and set all wordpress installations to default to www.domain.com/CRM/?page=

I'm not sure how much work this involves, but would go a long way to improving wordpress usability. If got appropriate guidance, would not mind trying to hack a couple of solutions.

anthony:

can u please try this technique. It is part of 4.2.1+ (there is some more work which would be good to get done for 4.3)
