Event and Donation PDF Receipts: Formating is Bad

Please see the attached pdf examples of the donation receipt and the event receipt.  I know that these receipts are editable and I know where to go in CiviCRM to edit them. I also understand how to insert tokens.  I am just not sure HOW to edit the table .

Is it possible to remove the table lines?
