Upgrade and copying civicrm db only
December 18, 2012, 05:56:11 am
Hello,

I'm working on an interesting problem. It's as

current site - www.site1.com (originally drupal6, civi 3.2.5 but now upgraded to drupal 7, civicrm 4.2)

www.site2.com (drupal 7 site).

Now site2.com contains drupal related data (content types, taxonomy a custom theme etc) and
we'd like to keep that intact but add the civi data from site1.com to site2.com.

Is it possible to

- install civicrm 4.2 on site2.com
- delete the db holding civicrm data for site2.com
- replace the civicrm db from site1.com into site2.com's civicrm db.

Is this a workable, quick solution ?

Yashesh

just to be safe, i would also do:

1. truncate the civicrm_uf_match table

2. do a civicrm/menu/rebuild on site 2, which truncates all the caches

3. truncate the drupal session table on site 2
