Requirements verified but installation fails
December 22, 2012, 11:10:58 pm
I'm trying to install CivicCRM 4.2.6 on Drupal 7.18.  I'm working on a Fatcow.com shared hosting account with MySQL 5.1.56 and PHP 5.3.13.  I configure the settings at "sites/all/modules/civicrm/install/index.php" and receive the message that all requirements are verified and and I can go ahead and install.  But the installation fails and I just see a page of error text.  No civicrm.settings.php files is created in /sites/default if that means anything.  Any ideas on what can be going wrong?  Thank you in advance for your assistance.

IMO, this is  the issue  of permissions. Check your  permissions on sites/default/ .

Yes, that's what I thought, too, since the settings file was not being created.  But permissions on /sites/default are set at 755, so CiviCRM should be able to write to the folder, correct?  Do I need to set permissions at 777?

Usually not, but every host is different. Give it a try and see. :)

you can set permissions to 777 and just remember to change after installation is complete
