Paypal and registrations
March 13, 2008, 06:56:56 am
Hi all. Considering installing Civicrm with Drupal.

I have 2 questions. First of all, does Civimember work with Paypal Standard? Also, the organization I am creating the site for does memberships all at the beginning of the year: new members that sign up later in the year pay a portion of the yearly fee, depending on sign up date (those in June pay 1/2). Is it possible to set this up in CiviMember?

Thanks,

Shrill

Civimember works with PayPal Standard.

CiviMember does not currently include support for fee pro-ration. However, there is a "related" feature. For memberships with Fixed periods (e.g. calendar year memberships) - you can set a "Fixed Period Rollover Day". Members who signup AFTER the rollover day are granted membership for the next membership period.

Example:
- Membership period is Jan 1 - Dec 31
- Rollover day is Sep 1
- If I signup on Sep 2, 2008, my membership will extend through Dec 31, 2009

Thanks very much for your answers: very helpful.

Is it possible to edit the membership half way through the year to change the cost? That might be a workaround that would be okay.

Yes - you can modify the fee amount assigned to a membership type at any time (which will affect memberships created subsequently).

Excellent! Can't wait to get working with it: looks like a very good piece of software.

Thanks so much for your help.
