Upgrade Drupal 6 to Drupal 7, CiviCRM already installed 4.1.1
January 01, 2013, 11:38:20 pm
Been a while since I visited. Hope you had a happy new year.

Anyways, while no-one is at work I have decided to take this time and upgrade our installation from Drupal 6 with 4.1.1 to Drupal 7 with 4.2. I performed the upgrade of CiviCRM a while back and decided not to update Drupal at that time due to some modules not being ready for Drupal 7.

After some testing of Drupal 7 I am ready to upgrade. Are there any guides for upgrading D6 to D7 while using CiviCRM 4.x? Any pointers?

What I would suggest is:

1. Disable CiviCRM and rename civicrm.settings.php
2. Upgrade Drupal and any modules
3. Replace CiviCRM code base with 4.2 for Drupal 7
4. Install a fresh CiviCRM in a spare database
5. Edit the new civicrm.settings.php to point to your old CiviCRM database
6. Run the upgrader civicrm/upgrade?reset=1

Thanks for the prompt reply. I'll proceed with your suggestions and update when complete.

Missing from the above but I guess you did it is making sure the UF is set to Drupal not Drupal6 in civicrm.settings.php

Thanks for the heads-up, Eileen. Happens that the value is set correctly  :)
