'Moving an Existing Installation' Documention Errors
January 07, 2013, 07:38:03 am
I found some errors (actually omissions) in the "Moving an Existing Installation to a New Server or Location" documentation with regards to WordPress.  The documentation is at: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC42/Moving+an+Existing+Installation+to+a+New+Server+or+Location.

The omissions are:
  • Step #7 - You also need to delete "<wordpress-root>/wp-content/plugins/files/civicrm/ConfigAndLog/Config.IDS.ini".
  • Step #13 - The URL for WordPress is "<wordpress-root>/wp-admin/admin.php?page=CiviCRM&q=civicrm/menu/rebuild&reset=1".

BTW, I've had success using the the WordPress 'Duplicator' plug-in to move my website to a test server.  It copies the entire site, restores it to a new location and chnages the URLs to those of the new location.  It doesn't copy the separate CiviCRM datadase.  I use phpMyAdmin for that.
