Search result navigation not working

Dear Community,

This is related to my other post of today.  The Search Result navigation on one of our CiviCRM 4.2.7 instances under Joomla is not working - clicking on Next, Last or one of the letters of the alphabet just returns the first page.  What setting or file needs to be investigated?  I'm beginning to think that reinstalling the CiviCRM instance may be the solution.
