PCP and Joomla links
January 09, 2013, 12:16:35 am
I have a problem with Personal Campaign Pages and Joomla menus. All PCP Joomla menu items just lead to a CiviCRM-001 error page (as attached). The cause appears to be that all such links are trying to look at /administrator/something rather than just at /something, as users with administrator rights see the CiviContribute dashboard.

Adding a Joomla menu item to create or view a PCP appears to work - both the page for creating the link and the joomla database record the intended menu target as simply "index.php...etc" with no reference to administrator.

If I create another form of link (i.e. a menu item that directs to the required URL) users can see and manage their pages.

So the problem appears to be entirely in how Joomla/CiviCRM work together in a menu link. I thought I came across this before and it got fixed in a bug report, but I'm on the latest 4.2 version so either I'm mistaken or it was and has got unfixed. Or does Civi and/or Joomla store something in the database about how these links work that I may have as a carry-over from a previous version?

Because the CiviCRM sandbox doesn't let us create menu items, I can't test this there to find out whether it is a quirk of my system or something wider.

Any suggestions? Thanks.
