I see that there has been another post on this but there was not a response. I have two sites that independently have had a very similar issue. One says

Database Error Code: Unknown column 'sub_event.parent_event_id' in 'on clause', 1054 on 4.2.7.

Database Error Code: Unknown column 'civicrm_event.event_type_id' in 'on clause', 1054 on 4.2.2

Both of the errors happen when registering for events. Because there is so much information I have attached the twobacktraces as text files.

The issue is that the civicrm_event is not in the query--not in the FROM nor a JOIN. I don't know why that's the case however.
