settings_location.php error message
January 11, 2013, 02:03:56 pm
Hi,

Ok, I've been stupid and evil and not followed normal conventions 8), but I still wouldn't mind picking your magnificent brains a bit... ;)

What I've done is that I've configured my Drupal/CiviCRM installation with a symlink from <drupal>/sites/all/modules to <my home directory>/CiviCRM/CiviCRM-4.2.7/civicrm (oups!)

The installation works perfectly, but cron fails. I've set it up as such:

*/5 * * * * wget -O - -q -t 1 "http://mysite.org/sites/all/modules/civicrm/bin/cron.php?user=username&pass=password&key=site-key"

Cron runs, but the Scheduled Jobs are not being run.

Now, I thought the problem would be due to the symlink, so I made a settings_location.php file as suggested amongst other places here: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC42/Upgrade+Drupal+Sites+to+4.2+-+Drupal+7#UpgradeDrupalSitesto4.2-Drupal7-Calendarwidgetdoesn'twork(throwsaJavascripterror),and/orCiviMailscriptsforopentracking,SOAPauthentication,etc.don'tfunction.

So, my settings_location.php in place, I try running cron function again, but I get the following error:

ERROR: You need to send a valid user name and password to execute this file

Now, I thought I did that in the cron job, is that not enough? And as it obviously isn't, where am I supposed to add a valid user name and password, and what user name and password are we talking about this time? Is it still a Drupal user, or is it perhaps the linux user on the server??

I'm confused ???, my hair is thinning out :o, and my wife tells me I am frustrated :-X, thus I appreciate any hints and suggestions, because at this point I think I'm at a loss...
Thanks in advance!  :)

The user/password is a Drupal user and make sure it has no funny characters. Load the URL into the browser to see that message--if it works, you will see no output whatsoever.
