Error message when new user attempts to sign up
January 13, 2013, 10:39:04 pm
Forgive me if this is not in the right subforum. I'm very new to this site (and to the job).

I've been tasked with trying to figure out why this error message is appearing when new users attempt to subscribe to a client's newsletter via a form on their website.

Quote
Warning: require_once(CRM/UD/UI.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/military/public_html/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Core/ClassLoader.php on line 99

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'CRM/UD/UI.php' (include_path='.:/home/military/public_html/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm/:/home/military/public_html/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm//packages:.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/military/public_html/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Core/ClassLoader.php on line 99

The site was built before I started this job, and as far as I know, the form was working up until very recently.

I would appreciate any tips or advice you could give, and will share any additional information that may be necessary. Honestly, I'm not quite sure even where to start trouble-shooting the error.

Thanks in advance!

Is the file public_html/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm/CRM/UD/UI.php on the server?

I just looked - there is no UD folder in the CRM directory.

Is this something that CiviCRM creates automatically or is it user-generated?

I checked the code base. There is no such directory nor any such PHP file in 4.2.7. Do you have 4.2.4? Can you upgrade to 4.2.7?

I'm going through the process of upgrading to 4.2.7 now. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for giving me a starting point!

Didn't even know CiviCRM had a more recent version. Wordpress only upgraded to 4.2.4 on the latest upgrade through the admin panel.

Finally got CiviCRM upgraded to 4.2.7. Looks like everything installed correctly. Now I have to figure out how to re-link the membership directory that already existed.

I successfully completed the upgrade to 4.2.7, but the new install is also missing the public_html/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm/CRM/UD/UI.php file (CRM is there, but there is no UD directory).

Not sure where to look next.

civicrm does not have a UD directory. i suspect that was installed / deployed by your consultant / integrator / developer?

Yeah, he's no longer employed here, which is why I'm having such a time figuring out what he did with this site.

The ClassLoader line pointed to in the error says:

Quote
  function loadClass($class) {
    if (
      // Only load classes that clearly belong to CiviCRM.
      0 === strncmp($class, 'CRM_', 4) &&
      // Do not load PHP 5.3 namespaced classes.
      // (in a future version, maybe)
      FALSE === strpos($class, '\\')
    ) {
      $file = strtr($class, '_', '/') . '.php';
      // There is some question about the best way to do this.
      // "require_once" is nice because it's simple and throws
      // intelligible errors.  The down side is that autoloaders
      // down the chain cannot try to find the file if we fail.
      require_once ($file);
    }
  }
}

Is this why the error is showing? Because the UD/UI.php file isn't a normal part of CiviCRM?

I've been pouring through code and I can't figure out where or why the signup form points to that file (and, of course, can't find any saved versions of the file here locally).

Confusion level rising.

The previous site author added their newsletter signup form via a custom .php file, widget, and plugin.

I've created a brand new signup form through CiviCRM (following their instructions on creating new Profiles and custom Fields), and got the code for the form from the HTML Form Snippit. I replaced the old Signup widget with the new one.

I'm still getting the original error.

Could this be a conflict between CiviCRM and another plugin?

Re: Error message when new user attempts to sign up

Can someone explain exactly what this bit of code does?

<?php if(!isset($_REQUEST['page']) && !isset($_REQUEST['q'])){

   wp_redirect('http://vobohio.org/newsletter-signup/?page=CiviCRM&q=civicrm/profile/create&gid=2');

} ?>

I know it's a redirect from that link, but is it attempting to create a new profile through CiviCRM? That seems to be when the error occurs.

Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to make it stop. I can't see any references to that file anywhere except for in the error message.

In case anyone else runs into this problem - the issue ended up being a Plugin conflict. Still not sure which one, but deactivating the Plugins we had installed and starting from scratch did the trick.
