Unable to search on empty fields using Search Builder
March 14, 2008, 01:43:46 am
Hi all,

I'm trying to search all users who's e-mail fields is empty.
I cannot achieve this in Search Builder. I tried:

!= ''
= NULL
< 0
= 0

Whatever I try, all inputs are surrounded by quotes, so it will search on: WHERE e-mail IS 'null'
Is there any way to search on this?

Yep - the Search is a bit of a weak link. Has been canvassed here too http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,992.0.html with a wild looking work around and there has been a related issue of not being able to exclude groups here http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,2686.msg11597.html#msg11597

As Lobo notes elsewhere, the more users call for these issues to be resolved the higher up the list it might rise.

Thanks for your reply.
I hope this will be solved pretty soon, because we really need it in our organisation..

I'll keep waiting!

If you have programming skills, you might want to take a look at CRM/Contact/BAO/Query.php and try adding support for the below. We'd be happy to help you out / answer questions on IRC
