Replies to mass mailing bounce when "track replies" enabled

I have tried to send a mass mailing and track the replies. Upon testing the reply tracking to see how it worked my reply was bounced back with the message

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

     r.7.23.66abfa63c1a0ea87@solarpoweredmusic. com

Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 No Such User Here" (state 13).

This makes sense because that address doesn't exist. How do I set up civicrm so that replies can be tracked through it?

the mailing server @ your recipient domain needs to allow wildcard email addresses to a specific inbox

most mailing servers have a configuration for this and/or a pattern that can be used
