select contacts in webform as autocomplete
January 17, 2013, 03:49:06 am
Hi,
I need to create a form where members should select Contact from the database, to propose them for an award. I am trying to create an autocomplete field where they would type the name and it would retrieve the Civi Contact, and record the result on submitting the form. I have searched for a solution but I cannot seem to find a way to include such a field in Drupal Webform. I have Drupal 7 and CiviCrm 4.0.5.
Any suggestions would be of great help.

Many thanks,

Philippe

Are u on civi 4.0.5? the latest versions of civi and civicrm_webform are a lot more powerful and might have the below functionality. so an upgrade is definitely recommended

Hello Philippe,

I checked the demo site, and the ability to add a Custom field to the profile you intend to use for Webform is there. you just create a custom field of the type contact reference, with Autocomplete Select, make it searchable, and save. Now just insert it in your profile, et voila!

An upgrade is in order, but I'm not certain exactly what version this function was added in. I'd recommend going with the Current stable version.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Jason

The webform_civicrm integration module can do exactly what you want, you just need to upgrade to the latest version (which requires at minimum CiviCRM 4.1 - but while you're at it you may as well go up to 4.2)
Try asking your question on the new CiviCRM help site.
