Joomla Front End Profile
March 14, 2008, 08:38:18 am
I am just starting on my first Civicrm install.

I have created a profile to list organization in the front end.  Ideally I would like a list to display to the public and also have a front end editable list for the admins to update the details.

No matter what options I use in the profile or field options I cannot restrict editing the profile to users and admins.

I have set one profile up with all fields read only for public viewing and set up a second profile to allow fields to be editable .  The second profile link only appears when an admin is logged in but the edit page URL can be called without any user being logged in

e.g. this a the URL to the second profile (at the moment the only field set to editable is Projects at the bottom of the page but it is also set to User and admin only)

http://ace.uk-noc.com/~onevoice/index.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/profile/edit&reset=1&id=4&gid=2

Even though no user or admin is logged in, it will still allow you to edit the profile.

I have also added a group that the profile belongs to and made that viewable by users and admins only but it still appears.

Am I missing something somewhere?

Could this be a problem with Joomla 1.5?

Thanks

Yes, this is an issue with joomla and permissions. We do not have any permissioning support for Joomla and hence you cannot have the below on a joomla install. We hope to fix this in a 2.x release
