Future Compatibility with WordPress - Auto updates from DreamHost
January 19, 2013, 06:32:42 pm
A few months back I completed a CiviCRM migration from Drupal 6 to WordPress 3.4.  As part of this, I took the easy route to installing WordPress by taking advantage of DreamHost's one-click installs.  This feature carries a side effect, automatic updates to WordPress.  I am worried future versions of WordPress may not be compatible with CiviCRM 4.1.  If this is the case, then I will need to be aware of needed CiviCRM updates as they become available.

It may be possible to break ties with the automatic updates by backing up the files, removing WordPress, and then replacing the files with the backup.

Thoughts on any or all of this are appreciated.  I am very happy with the help I received in the past, it literally saved the website.

I would ask your host how to stop the automatic updates. I agree with you that one day it could have unexpected results.
