Problem Importing Counties
January 22, 2013, 04:39:52 am
I'm having a problem importing Irish counties when I import organisation addresses. When I go to add an address manually I can see the correct counties, however when I go to import the counties I get the message " County input value not in county table: The County value appears to be invalid. It does not match any value in CiviCRM table of counties." As far as I can see, the county data to be imported appears to match the county dropdown options e.g. "Dublin". I had a look at the mySQL table to check if I could find the values for counties there, but didn't manage to find them  there.

Any tips as to why counties do not appear to be importing would be appreciated.

Thanks Tony, I have checked and Ireland is available in both "countries" and "states and provinces".

Hmm. Bit hard to help. Ive done a test import just adding first name, last name, state, country using Ireland and Limerick as the county. Worked fine.

Check that the file you are importing does not have any spaces or weird characters in it?

The spellings have to be spot on as well

Aha, found the problem. The Irish counties are not contained in the "county" field in CiviCRM, they are contained in the "state" field. I mapped the counties to "state" and they all imported fine.
