Event self cancellation via Webform - checksum question re Registration email
January 22, 2013, 08:55:05 pm
HI - nice option via Webform to let a contact cancel a registration for an event (v useful for free events)

Process is
- person registers
- get confirmation email with checksum (to use if they want to cancel) that takes them to a webform that has civievent set up

All works fine - only catch is that I am having to put the checksum in the SysTpl Message - where I would much prefer to put it in the 'text' field in the Confirmation Email section of the Online Registration tab of Configure Event.

Will it be a mission to get checksums treated correctly from such a field?

Hmm, so does that field not accept any tokens? Or is that token just being treated incorrectly?
BTW, if you used the webform to do the event registration you wouldn't have this problem - it can send checksum links from webform submissions ;)

No tokens by looks of it - ie {contact.first_name} is not replaced by the value either

Good thought about using webform for the event itself but this is a paid event and still seems simpler (for me) to have them do the rego direct in civi (ie still haven't fully taken on board steps for doing via webform)

Nor have I.

I honestly don't know what will be involved with getting tokens into that field. I believe the Civi token system is reasonably adaptable and so adding it should just be a matter of calling existing methods and maybe a few template modifications. I think this is something other organizations would want too (so they can say "Dear Bob, thank you for registering" instead of "Attention current occupant...") :P
