Is there any way to configure 'Schedule Follow-up' when creating an Activity?
January 28, 2013, 10:25:26 am
At the bottom of an Activity created within a Case there is a section headed 'Schedule Follow-up' with a Status field with no default value but the values are (unsurprisingly) those of the 'Activity Status' Option Group, but the default value is not the default Activity Status.
Users always have to remember to choose 'Not Required' for the vast majority of Activities, so is there a way to make that the default Status for Scheduled Follow-up (ideally on a per Activity Type basis)?

For the short term, your best bet would be to add a jQuery snippet to set a default value for that field

would really help if you can take a look at the code and see if you can contribute a patch that sets the default activity status for the follow up reminder. Should be a fairly easy fix. Ping us on irc if u need help getting started

Thanks Lobo, and you're damn right I'll need some help with a jQuery snippet!  ;)
Can you give me some pointers as to where to look to try to get started?

I've signed up to IRC as marktompsett (boring and predictable!) so I'll look out for you over the next day or so.

Where do you see the status field for the scheduled followup? The status field I see is for the current activity you're working on at the time, and the lack of a default status being set there was by design.

I think the status for a "scheduled followup" would always be "scheduled", which is why there isn't such a field? Is there maybe a version difference from what I'm looking at? (Demo)
