Cannot edit imported contributions
February 04, 2013, 08:00:40 am
Whenever I import a contribution and then go back and edit it I get this error "Sorry but we are not able to provide this at the moment. " Does anyone know why this would be happening?

FYI for anyone that might have this same issue, I upgraded to version 4.2.7 and that fixed this problem.

I just imported another file after the upgrade and it is doing the same thing where it will not let me edit the newly added contributions. Does anyone know what happens in the upgrade that would cause the previous contributions to edit but not any newly added contributions?

Can you test this on the public demo: http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/ with fake data? Just a few lines will do it.

To confirm that this problem exists there also.

Re: Cannot edit imported contributions

Well I am probably going to get myself in trouble here, but I am doing the import directly into the contribution table. The reason being (and if there is a better way please let me know) is that we need to bring in contributions from another source quickbooks. So I created a custom field called quickbooks ID and we put the primary key for the quickbook contacts in this field. We could not use the external id since we are using that field from our old database. If I tried to import via the contribution import in civi, there is not an option to map to custom fields.

So I have been doing this for sometime now, but currently we are adding in a thank you date and now we get an error when we try to edit a contribution. After the upgrade we were able to edit all older contributions, but now it is throwing an error on all newly imported contributions. How can I identify what the SQL query is that is executed when you save an edit on the contribution edit screen? Or when a contribution import is done, are there other tables besides the contribution table that are updated?
