Does not send mail
February 06, 2013, 09:13:41 am
CiviCRM 4.1.0 + Joomla.

Settings - Outbound Mail
Sending test email. FROM: info@mysite.it TO: testmail@libero.it.
Your MAIL settings are correct. A test email has been sent to your email address.

No mail arrives to testmail@libero.it. On the contrary, if I send to any other address different from @libero.it or @virgilio.it, the mail arrives fine.

Same problem when submitting mass mail.
Mail arrives to any mail address different from @libero.it, @virgilio.it.
No error messages.

I have tried both (SMTP) mail accounts:
1) the account I use on my local PC (libero.it),
2) the mail account used on my web site hosting server.
Also tried with different FROM addresses, with same results.

Thank you for help

is libero.it running on exchange and is this mysite.it somehow configured nearby it?

exchange is extremely braindead and not very good at admitting they might be other mail servers than itself.

Or might be an anti-spam. Check the anti spam folder. check as well if mysite.it isn't blacklisted

Anyway, if it works with other domains, the problem isn't civi

Seems you have mis-configured something, probably the domain is missing on your account configuration

I'd suggest you to read our chapter in the book (including SPF), it's going to save you a lot of time in the long run

A random email address like b.202.338.ad0abe676cecb8b4@ is generally used by CiviCRM for bounce processing. The way it works (one way at least) is that if you have a "catch-all" email account then any non-existent emails like the above, will be sent into your catch-all account.

Then CiviMail fetches those emails via POP3 (or IMAP) and processes them and can determine which addresses failed.

I can't be sure but it looks like you don't have any catch-all account and so that non-existent email is returned as being, well, non-existent. :)

Yes, I do not have a bounce address for the moment.

You need it to have civimail working. it might as well impact sending in weird ways, as you seem to experience.

Start by having the bounce working, it should solve the sending problems
