Adding attachments to CiviMail
February 06, 2013, 08:17:16 pm
CiviCRM 4.1.5
Drupal 7.14

I do not see an obvious place to add an attachment to a mass mailing. I realize there are limits to attachment size but I just do not see anything in the UI to add an attachment, and, if I could find it, how can I limit the attachment size?

if you dont see it in 4.1, that feature was probably added in 4.2

i think it appears in the compose mailing screen. Might want to check on demo

Hi,

[1] You add an attachment in step 3 when creating a mailing.

[2] The limit for CiviSMTP is 1mb, so make sure your attachment is 1mb or smaller

When I try to look at the 4.2 demo, I get this:

Sorry but we are not able to provide this at the moment.
The default mailbox has not been configured. You will find more info in our online user and administrator guide.

Return to home page.

Is this only available for 4.2 then? I see discussions about it that go much further back.

if you are asking about attachments, you attach a file in step 3 when creating a mailing.

I just checked our drupal 7.10 / CCRM 4.1.5 reference installation.  I believe that is what  you are running.

Shane. Can you please attach a screenshot of what you see in 4.1.5?

you can see the open attachment box.  you should see that in step 3  of creating a mailing

Is this something that has to be enabled somewhere? I do not see this facility in our installation of 4.1.5, however, in my test instance, I do see it.

nothing needs to be enabled as far as I know.

There is actually a setting to specify the number of attachments and maximum size. Those fields were not set so once I set them, the attachment option was available.

Now, if we exceed your maximum 1MB size, how will we know that?

Excellent!  Where did you see those settings?

An oversized attachment will be rejected with a relaying denied message.  You must be sure your attachment is not over 1mb before sending.
