Member renewal pages
February 11, 2013, 01:30:58 am
Hi,

I have CiviMember configured to display a different title and message if a logged in member comes back to renew. According to the documentation, they visit the same URL as the new sign-ups, but they should see the renewal page title/description, not the new sign-up page title/description.

It is filling the organisation fields from Civi correctly (address, etc) so it has made that connection correctly, and if I go through the renewal process, it renews the membership correctly (adds another 12 months on to the end date), but it isn't displaying the "Renew" page title or text. The membership status seems to make no difference - I have tried New, Current and Grace but none of them is displaying the "Renew" details.

What am I doing wrong? Is there some other setting I've missed somewhere?

I'm on Drupal 7.19 and Civi 4.2.7 running on a Linux stack.

Thanks in anticipation.

Kind regards

Cath

Hi Cath - not sure if I am following since membership status has no bearing on a public membership join/renew page.

basically the logic is, as you say, the system shows the same page. If you are logged in but not a member it will show you the 'join' info - if you are logged in and an existing member eg current/grace then it should show your current membership status and show you the renew info.

if you are having problems can you double check the above on demo in case you are experiencing something different

Hi Pete,

Yes, I am experiencing something different from Demo - sorry my original explanation wasn't clear enough.

Whether or not I am logged in, I get shown the page for a new membership. It doesn't show the "renewals" text that we have entered, nor does it show me my current membership status.

What am I doing wrong?

Cath

Cath,

These are the screens I am getting on the demo right now.  Logged in as 'demo' user it recognizes my existing membership for this contact and offers me the renewal text.

See attached images.  Is this not what you want?  Remember renewal text is offered only if you are logged in AND I think also only if you have an existing membership already.
Try CiviTeacher: the online video tutorial CiviCRM learning library.

Hi,

Yes, that is exactly what I want but it's not what my system is doing! And that's why I'm asking for help! How do I get it to do what the demo system is doing? Why is mine not working the same way?

hope we can help
go to your Contact record
delete all existing memberships
when logged in create a new membership via the Contrib Page  - whose record does it get added to?

are there any other records with your same name that might be confusing things?

Hi,

I have already tried that before I posted to the forum! I created a brand new contact (no names the same or similar), signed up for a membership, which was added to my new contact correctly, logged out, logged in to renew, and it still gives me the sign-up screen, not the renewal screen. This happens to all contacts not just mine, so I think it's a Civi setting somewhere, not something to do with a specific account.

hi cath - thing is there is no civi setting for this as far as i am aware - unless someone else jumps in with a bright idea, you could send me a Private Message and if it might help, we can do a 5 min skype screenshare to see if I have an 'ah ah' moment
