No Menus visible
February 12, 2013, 03:21:13 am
We recently migrated our site from joomla 1.5 and civi 3.1 to joomla 2.5 and civi 4.1.6 (via 4.0 as an upgrade etc).  All seems fine and our data is there but the menus do not appear on the main civi page (Components - CiviCRM).  I can still navigate to them by addressing them directly but this is not ideal.  I have recently run the upgrade to 4.2.7 in the hope that this would rebuild them but alas there is no change.

I have tried running the various reset commands described in the update guide (enabling debuggin etc) but I still cannot get teh menus to display.  Someone on here suggested using Firebug to check for missing files but looking at that there are no missing files.  I am however seeing the following error under Console:

TypeError: window.addEvent is not a function
[Break On This Error]

window.addEvent('domready', function(){

But I must admit that means very little to me and I am unsure if this is the cause of my problem.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like it's mootool not loaded. Don't you have the same problem in other parts of your website that is using the same template?

ah, that looks like the case as I cannot see it listed under the modules page.  Oddly everything else on the site is working fine.  I will try and track down mootools and force it to install.

indeed a lack of mootools was the cause.  I had to add the link to an external mootools provider (as suggested here http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p=2380346) but that seems to have resolved all menus that are missing in civi.  Thanks for the pointer!!
