Importing Indivs, relationships on External ID
March 17, 2008, 08:24:06 am
I'm in the process of doing a large data import. My data is very clean and normalized, so I had hoped to import the individuals and build relationships to their parent organizations using the external id field. But it's not working -- the import works, but the relationship isn't built. If I do the same import and user org name for the relationship identifier, it works perfectly. I'm just wondering if anyone else has tried importing with external id and if they've had any problems.

I'm using 2.0. My data is clean enough, it shouldn't be a problem importing/relating on org name. But I would feel more comfortable with the external id field as it was a unique key field in the prior db.

Brian:

If its working for Organization, it should also work for Household (Both use kind of same code). If you are able to replicate it on demo, please file an issue in jira and  attach sample import file.

Brian:

We found an issue with importing relationship contacts using external identifier. Fix will be part of CiviCRM v2.0.2.
You can also check: http://biryani.osuosl.org:8181/browse/CiviCRM/branches/v2.0/CRM/Import/Parser/Contact.php?r1=13652&r2=13709

thanx,

Kurund,
I sent you a PM requesting Joomla sandbox access (I was going to run test data through on this issue), as my old user/id isn't working anymore. Can you send me that anyway, even though this issue is resolved, as I test thing on the sandbox fairly regularly.
thx,
