Automatic Reminders sent out to 'Cancelled' Memberships on Civi 4.2.7

I saw the issue here: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-6362  said it was fixed,

However, this morning, many of our members received vastly inaccurate membership reminders....

We want to use 'cancelled' memberships to track past membership choices, dates, and are hoping it wont remind them to renew on these ones

Please help

How can we set it up to not remind cancelled memberships?

I had a client report a similar issue - but since I didn't have a bug report from them nor authorization to follow up, I didn't create a bug report, just a forum message: http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,27289.msg116289.html

Basically - in Civi 4.2, the automatic reminder code was overhauled, so #6362 refers to old code.  This bug exists in the new code.  I would recommend submitting a bug report, and referencing both your post and mine.
