Problems Upgrading from CiviCRM 1.9.13019 to CiviCRM 2.0.0
March 17, 2008, 08:32:31 am
Here is the Progress of my CiviCRM upgrade...

CiviCRM 2.0 Upgrade: Step Three (Location Data Upgrade)  (Passed!)
CiviCRM 2.0 Upgrade: Step Four (Activity Upgrade) (Error Below!)
"Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.  Database consistency check failed for step 5. Value missing in civicrm_custom_field for the column 'name'."

Here is the error I keep getting in install {   [nativecode=1146 ** Table 'techmi5_civicrm19Fix.civicrm_component' doesn't exist]    }
Seems like the table is not created in the installing of CiviCRM 2.0.0 anywhere...  Not sure, will continue to investigate...
I followed the instructions around 6 times, then I tried to deviate some of them to see if things would change, but it all comes down to the same error of the table (civicrm_component') above not existing...

The following is the error I get when I was on the long road to Drupal 2.0.0 upgrade on our Drupal Site

"
unrecoverable error
Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.

    Database consistency check failed.

    Return to home page.
"

In Step 4..in the upgrade process

This seems to be the main error    "Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.  Database consistency check failed for step 5. Value missing in civicrm_custom_field for the column 'name'."     Now trying to figure out how to solve it!

If anyone has the same problem, please notify me

Robert D. Smith

This is mainly because some of your custom data fields does not have labels.  All custom fields should have label.

Hi Everyone!  :o)

I successfully upgraded to CiviCRM 2.0.0.
We had to fill in NULL fields in civicrm_custom_field table in step 5 of the upgrade process to fix this error "Database consistency check failed for step 5. Value missing in civicrm_custom_field for the column 'name'."

{I don't know why they were null in the first place!  That was strange}.

it seems all field names that uses mane words, ( not sure what the count is ) results in a null in the db, which causes an error when upgrading.   i would go into the the civicrm custom fields and shorten the words.

I'm deeply interested by this issue resolution. I had myseld tried to upgrade  before reverting to 1.9 because of this error. All custom fields have labels.

Angus, by what did you fill in the NULL fields?

English is not my mother tongue and 'mane words' sounds a bit cryptic to me. What would this be?

Many thanks

1. You can use PHPMyAdmin to edit the custom field rows. Please add a valid string to the 'name' column to each custom field where the value is null. You can copy the 'label' column

2. 'mane words' == 'many words'

I was also affected with this while upgrading civicrm 1.9 to 2.0.1 with this in step 5 for "Value missing in civicrm_custom_field for the column 'name'"

I went into the database and replaced NULL for a custom field that had a long name. went and restarted the database upgrade script and it passed just fine.

the problem has been resolved by editing name field.

case: if your name filed is empty and label contains some text like "my own text". then your name field should be like "my_own_text"  edit the name fields which are empty and do the above scenario for every field. now continue the upgrade process to 2.0. it works smooth for me.

Value missing in civicrm_custom_field for the column 'name'
April 29, 2008, 02:31:58 am
Same issue here, solved with:
Code: [Select]
update civicrm_custom_field set name = replace(replace(replace(label, '/', ''), '-', ''), ' ', '_') where isnull(name)
