Offline Recurring Donations Source field not going into authorize.net
February 15, 2013, 03:23:14 pm
We have a user that sent us their ARB file from authorize.net. ARB is the automatic recurring billing system that recurring donations in CiviCRM talks to.  If someone sets up an recurring billing arrangement through an online contribution page, the source field that is updated for the contribution record ("Online Online Contribution: name of the contribution page) is propagated to Authorize.net's ARB process and is in the monthly file that the user can download to reconcile payments.  This is handy to have if some online contribution pages are for different accounts or activities.

However, this does not work the same way for offline recurring contributions.  The contribution source field is updated in the contribution record ("Offline Recurring Contribution") but it is NOT propagated to the ARB record. This makes it difficult to reconcile those donations.  Ideally it would also have a bit more information in the ARB record, such as the label of the contribution type/financial type so that it would be possible to allocate the funds to the correct account.

Anyway, I'm writing here to see if I'm mis-assessing the situation.  Does anyone out there have an insight on this?

if i had to guess, the contribution offline code is not propagating the 'source' field to the downstream payment processor.

should be a relatively easy debug, check, fix and add unit test process. Could you get Jamie or someone from the PTP world to investigate and submit a patch for this please
