Trouble with "Create User Record"
February 18, 2013, 06:15:37 am
hello
I'm a newbie here, and am having trouble with something which seems relatively simple. I have not found any posts that address this issue, but if anyone knows any, please tell me!

We are using Drupal 6.28 and CiviCRM 4.1.6. A particular contact is unable to log in in to her account. I went to her contact record to reset her password, but under Actions, there is not "User Record" only "Create User Record". When I use "Create User Record" in order to set up a new user name and password for her, I get the dual messages "Password required" and "User has been added" -- and nothing has changed. Still her email/user name do not show up as existing when trying to log in, and still (when logged in as administrator) there is not User Record, only Create User Record. Please help!

Hi there,

Usernames and passwords are controlled by Drupal rather than CiviCRM.  Folks here can probably help, but if your colleague can't log in at all, that's a Drupal issue.

It's hard to give specific advice because I don't know what Drupal admin menu you have, and whether your Drupal account has the appropriate permissions.  But assuming it does - go to the Drupal menu and select "List Users" or something similar-sounding.

Alternately, filling in your organization's name here and pasting this in a web browser should do the trick: http://<yoursite.org>/admin/user/user/list

From there, see if the account in question exists.  If so, check that its role has the appropriate permissions, the account isn't blocked, etc.

Good luck!
Jon
