Need help upgrading 4.1.5 to current version
February 18, 2013, 06:11:21 pm
Hello, I am in need of assistance in upgrading my CiviCRM 4.1.5 to the current 4.2.7 but I am told that I have to have MySQL 5.1 in order to do so. My site is hosted on GoDaddy and they only offer 5.0.. >:(.. what version can I successfully upgrade to without this requirement?

Also, I would like to add CiviCase, but have no idea how to configure it.  ??? I have been reading the "How-To" but am afraid of doing anything with it as I have already installed and reinstalled Drupal and CiviCRM many times with trial and error and have just gotten it to be stable. - I think.  :-[

I am not a coder, please help!

-Brandon

will save you (and us) a lot of time / energy / $$$ if you upgrade to a better hosting provider. Consider CiviHosting :)

If you are reluctant to add / turn on features, might want to consider hiring someone to help out. Yes it costs money and is expensive, but in the long term its definitely worth it, IMO

Thank you for your reply.

Thank you for attempting to upsell me on the hosting. That would be a wonderful idea IF our non-profit had the money to do so and the availability to familiarize ourselves with the capabilities of CiviCRM and it's components to see if it is actually right for us.

It is because of our basic needs at this time and financial situation, that I was trying to reach out in the Support Forum of " Support (offered by community volunteers) " hoping that there would be someone willing to help jump start us.

We currently have no building, no paid staff, staff <10, we work from our homes. Trying to get a functional case management system going so that we can keep all our information together and available as needed for us to work effectively with our DCFS clients, foster parents, agents, youth, and adults.

Thank you again for taking the time to respond, and although contained useful information for the future, I will hope that there is someone out there reading this that would be willing to help in the present.

FYI, CiviHosting is an independent company (run by Hershel R who also helps a lot on the forums) and is part of the community. I do not have any association with hershel, but do think civihosting has reasonable rates and is a great deal for cash strapped non-profits
