Override "In Selector?"
February 20, 2013, 08:20:45 am
Does anyone know if there a way override the "In Selector?" status when editing a field in a profile?

Hi Donald,

I have a Profile created used for my public members directory and I want to control which fields are displayed in the actual membership directory list view.  There is a value  for "Yes" and "No" in the column "In Selector?" but I do not see anywhere within Civi (or in the database) where I can edit

I guess most people are not having this problem, since this discussion seems the only one that Google can find.  Here are *my* details, which resemble what OP described.

I created my first profile, trying to come up with a page that will display what I want and not all the stuff I don't want.  We don't have postal addresses, and the tags are critical information, so I want these fields:

Field Name   Visibility   Searchable?   In Selector?   Order   Required   View Only   Reserved
First Name
(Individual)   User and User Admin Only    No    No          Yes    No    No   EditPreviewmore
Last Name
(Individual)   User and User Admin Only    No    No          Yes    No    No   EditPreviewmore
Email (Main)
(Contact)   User and User Admin Only    No    No          No    No    No   EditPreviewmore
Phone
(Contact)   User and User Admin Only    No    No          Yes    No    No   EditPreviewmore
Group(s)
(Contact)   User and User Admin Only    No    No          No    No    No   EditPreviewmore
Preferred Contact Method
(Contact)   User and User Admin Only    No    No          No    No    No   EditPreviewmore
Tag(s)
(Contact)   User and User Admin Only    No    No          No    No    No   EditPreviewmore
Do Not Phone
(Contact)   User and User Admin Only    No    No          No    No    No   EditPreviewmore
Do Not Email
(Contact)   User and User Admin Only    No    No          No    No    No   EditPreviewmore
Do Not Text
(Contact)   User and User Admin Only    No    No          No    No    No   EditPreviewmore
No Bulk Emails (User Opt Out)
(Contact)   User and User Admin Only    No    No          No    No    No   EditPreviewmore

Now, I go to Contacts > Advanced Search.  In the "Search Views" drop-down I select the name of my profile.  I select "Individual" under Contact Type(s).  I press the "Search" button, and I get a page with my seven records that does not resemble my profile -- it includes the empty postal address fields, along with name, email and phone, but nothing else.

So, how do I get it to show all of my fields, and no others?   My research seems to be telling me that my problem is that the "In Selector" field says No for ALL of the fields; but I see no way anywhere to control that "In Selector" flag.  If I select "Edit" in the above display, the resulting form doesn't include "In Selector."
