What's the reasoning making address fields read only in this profile?

See how when I'm logged in my address fields are 'locked' and I cannot change them.  What's the reasoning?   What if I've moved and I want to take this opportunity to change my address?  PS. Those fields are not 'read only' in the profile.

If we're going to be locking down fields, wouldn't it make more sense to lock down the first and last name, so I don't overwrite my data with someone elses' name?

the address fields are locked down ONLY of it a shared address (i.e. multiple contacts use the same address)

in this case editing the contact who owns the record can change the address
