How to Fix Broken Enable Component Feature in 4.2
February 20, 2013, 02:48:07 pm
Hi - CiviCRM enable component  feature is broken in my 4.2 running in Drupal 7.  I cannot enable CiviGrants, CiviCase or CiviCampaign.  After days of searching this forum no one seems to have addressed this.  I would appreciate any help that would assist me in resolving this issue.  Thanks so much.

How is it broken? does it give you errors? What does the error say? What happens?

Hi - thanks for replying so quickly.  No, there is no error.  When I go through the process of enabling and saving a component I receive the message " Your changes have been saved."  But nothing have been saved or changed.

The additional menu items do not appear in the menu bar?

No, nothing appears and I've tried going into the Administer/customize data screen and attempted to customize the navigation menu by adding the "Other" item menu, but that's not working either.

Intriguing. And the behaviour of the install throughout is to say "changes saved" and then not do anything?

Weird. Do the relevant tables get added to your MySQL database?

Also, have you tried rebuilding menus?

Try visiting this link:

Hi – Sorry for the delayed response. Yes the relevant tables are present in the database.  I checked this when I came across this post http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,25236.msg106521.html#msg106521 in my search to fix the issue.

Yes, that is what happens when I save after enabling components.  Something else that seems weird is when I go to enable components, nothing is in the enabled box on the right hand side, however, we are using civicontribute, civievent, civimember, civireport, civipledge, and civimail, and they are all in the menu bar.  Additionally, after enabling and saving components we are not yet using like civicampaign and civigrant, they do not appear in the drupal permissions list, so it’s not an issue of setting permissions in drupal.

I did as you suggested and rebuilt the menu and after it said menu rebuild successful, there was no change in the menu.

Thanks for trying to help.  I hope there's a way to fix this.

What theme are you using? Can you try with a core theme like Garland or Bartik?

Yes, I can try  this later tonight when I can put the site in maintenance mode.  I will post back with the results then.

Thanks.
