Report on price set values

Our organization puts on events where people sign-up and pay online. Typically we have "Freebie" items like Shirts or similar that are included if they pre-register by a certain date.  I have currently implemented this using a price set to allow for the options to disappear once a certain date has been reached.

The question I have is how do I report against who had pre-registered with what price set selections.  For example I need to know:

Who ordered what shirt sizes? 
How many of each shirt size do I need to order based on the registrations?

I'm a newbie with CiviCrm so please bear with me, I looked in the search for this but came up empty handed.  Does this need to be a custom report?

check your custom search

there is a price set custom search for event participants which you can use

not great,but does the job
