Is this different to Target Integration's work at http://www.targetintegration.com/downloads/mailchimp-civicrm-sync.html?
Yes - it is a completely different approach.  From what I gather the targetintegration is abandoned and I have no heard of anyone successfully using the civicrm extension due to an error with two-way sync and opt-out.  It seems quite close if you want to talk to the developer.  I have a client that might chip-in a bit - is this a priority for anyone else?

Hi all,
I'm revisiting this extension with the hope of getting it to work this time, but if someone could help me figure out the problem (or at least point me in the right direction) I would really appreciate it!
I can't even install the extension. I've loaded the Mailchimp Integration v.1.2 into my extensions directory, (I'm running CiviCRM 4.4.0) and when I go to install the extension, it gives me this error:

Exception: "Entity declaration references invalid or inactive module name [com.sciencegallery.mailchimp]"

And when I return to the Extensions page, the Mailchimp Integration Extension isn't even enabled. I've tried deleting the extension and installing a fresh download, but I get the same results. I realize this extension says it's compatible with CiviCRM 4.3, and I'm running 4.4, but I read on this forum multiple accounts of people running 4.4 who were able to install and enable the extension. Please help!

Hi

We have the same issue.
The Mailchimp extension 1.2 installs and it does manually sync data from CiviCRM groups to Mailchimp (on CiviCRM 4.3.x)
However Mailchimp unsubscribes, using webhooks, are not sent to CiviCRM.
As all Mailchimp mailings have an inbuilt unsubscribe link in them this means at the moment this isn't functional.

Would like to see this working we've tried to make contact with the module author Derek.

Is the plan for this to be a cms-independent extension?

Hi Parvez - was wondering if the civicrm mailchimp work has begun.  You may want to start a new thread on the extension and cross post here so folks can contribute.  Id be happy to test / help with documentation.

Hi

Work is due to begin next week. Had some good feedback on the wiki which has helped clarify how to keep of Mailchimp down whilst keeping segmentation options.

So should have something to start documenting in the next few weeks, thanks for the offer and will cross post for sure with links to demo site etc.

Any updates?  We are in the process of rolling out CiviCRM for a client and it would be great to give them an update that Mailchimp integration is on the way.

Hi

We'll be releasing the first Beta by Monday the 28th of April with any luck.

If your attending CiviCon SF we're presenting the extension on the 25th Friday 9:30 am to 10:45 am - on the back of the emailing session.

Thanks

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but what does mailchimp do that CiviSMTP doesn't?  The latter has worked great for us, with very few issues.  Just wondering.

Hey,

Its a fair enough question!

A lot of charities have a user base that works with mailchimp and understands how it works etc. They aren't often in a position to retrain those volunteers to CiviCRM and all the relevant templates etc. So the integration is a step to allow those charities where the marketing function needs to remain in mail chimp for whatever reason.

We've also done some work recently with regards to making the CiviCRM mass mailing process simpler with a one page mass email removing some of the complex options for users. Something we hope to package up pretty soon.

So its not a replacement, its something that most other CRM's have and is needed by some CiviCRM users.

Hope that helps!

Thanks

Parvez

Hi All

We're pleased to announce that the extension is ready for BETA testing.

Please see https://civicrm.org/extensions/mailchimp-civicrm-integration

If you could feedback any issues on the git repo that would be great.

Thanks
