Membership to Group Type
March 04, 2013, 09:13:56 am
Hi All,

So far I am using Joomla 2.5.9 and CiviCRM 4.2.7 and the site is running beautifully. The only thing that is not ideal is the memberships. So here's my situation...

We have 2 types of memberships to select from. Right now, when they sign up, no matter what membership, they are put into a New Members group (this is set in the profile) and a Joomla user account is created for them. I will then manually move them to the "Membership Type" Group and go into Joomla and move them into the corresponding group as well, as I cant get CiviCRM Group Sync to work for some reason.

Now my question is this: Is there any way to automate this process? I.e. check what membership they sign up for (maybe in the profiles) and place them into the specified group automatically? I've looked at smart groups, which is something like what I need, but I cant use that for access control. Also, is there some way to sync the groups over with Joomla?

Thanks in advanced!
Max
