Uninstalled civiCRM and now locked out of Admin back-end
March 06, 2013, 06:05:55 am
Deleted my civi CRM folder and now can not acccess my admin side.  After entering Admin credentials I receive this error message.
I'm locked out :(

Any thoughts, ideas?

you can't just delete the file folders in joomla -- for civi or any other extension. if you want to uninstall an extension, you should go to the extension manager and uninstall it there.

there is a civicrm user plugin which is still installed and is searching for the civicrm settings file -- which you deleted. you should go into your database, locate the extension table, search for the civicrm user plugin and disable it manually (change the "enabled" column value to 0).

after you've restored access to joomla admin, you should still go through and uninstall civicrm via the extension management tool. even though the files are gone, the extension is still registered in the system.

I went into mySQL but I'm not familiar with databases or anything like that.  The user screen looked so foreign.  Scratched my head for a sec and tried something else.

Went into my site through FTP.  Looked into my Joomla Plugins folder, and looked for any instance of Civi CRM.  Found that plugin and renamed it for now.  I'm now able to access my back end.  Went to the extension manager and deleted any other instances of Civi CRM (there were 3 plug-ins in total).  2 deleted fine BUT one of the plugins did not delete, it's called Civi User Management.
(See attached image)

Scratched my head again.  Went back and renamed that file back to it's original name and now tried deleting it.  It worked.

So far looks good.  Am able to log in and out.

Hope this help someone else.

Please advise if you think there's anything else that needs to be cleaned up in such a case.

Thanks for your help lcdweb.
