Testing Discounts in Wordpress
March 06, 2013, 01:12:37 pm
I am testing CiviDiscount in a Wordpress install. I have upgraded to 4.3Beta1 and the extension installed fine. I setup a discount code but when I go to the event registration page there is no field to enter the code.

I also tried the automatic discount for a member level and the discount does not apply.

Not sure if I am missing something? Any settings I should check?

Thanks

I created the discount code and as part of the setup I applied it to the price set that is setup for the event. Is there another step in the setup? I've poked around but didn't see anything.

Thanks

i did a quick install and test of this on my local sandbox and it worked fine. I'm using v2.0 of the discount module

i gave a 50% discount to the fall fundraiser event and it gave me a discount code box etc

I did a fresh install and all went well. So I went back to see what was going on. The big difference was on the discount code setup screen there was no box to select an event in my original install while it was there in the fresh install. After poking around I discovered that an event not only has to be active, current or future but must be set as public. When that is done all works fine.

Not sure if changes are necessary. I do work with some organizations that hold events they do not want on their public feeds. It is rare but happens.

Extension works great! Exactly what the folks I work with needed.

Thanks!!!

When you work with orgs that need all events exposed, please take a look at the code and contribute a patch. I suspect it is a fairly easy fix.

Extensions like discount have been built via a Make It Happen campaign. Would be great if you and your orgs can help support this and/or other make it happen campaigns:

I will look at the code see what I can figure out.

I am encouraging the orgs I work with to contribute. Most are in the initial stages of working with CiviCRM. They are impressed. I will continue to encourage contributions. I will also work to contribute myself when I can.

This is a great package and community.

Thanks for all you do!

Hey community,

Maybe I'm just dense, but I have this installed for Wordpress but I don't see anywhere to activate discounts. I tried looking in the documentation here; http://book.civicrm.org/user/current/events/setup/, and it said to enable the discounts feature. However, I don't see anywhere to do this.

Help? Is there an additional module I need to install? If so, where can I find it?

Thanks!

Here are somethings to check.

1. make sure you have the most recent version of the extension CiviDiscount (v 2.1) installed. You can install it through Administer>Administration Console>Manage Extensions (System Settings).
2. After Install you should see CiviDiscount under the Administer menu. If not here is the page: <your site>/wp-admin/admin.php?page=CiviCRM&q=civicrm/cividiscount&reset=1.
3. From there you can setup a discount code and apply it to an event & the price set.

Make sure your event is active and set as public or you will not be able to apply the discount to it and will not see the code box on the form.

Hope this helps.
