Search for current membership (not actual status)
March 06, 2013, 07:54:43 pm
If I edit the Grace membership status at Membership Status Rules -- where can I search by the "Current Membership?" checkbox? I don't see it as an option on the Advanced Search.

Yes, I can search by the actual status (pending, new, current, grace, etc) - but in my scenario the definition of grace may change at time(s) from counted as current to not.

Thanks!

I don't think you can - and I am not sure that what you are proposing makes sense - the 'grace' period is something that civi will automatically update a membership status to.
So how could it 'sometimes' be current and 'sometimes' not?

In this specific case - there is a membership directory. According to the bylaws, past due members are not expired for 3 months. However, after only 1 month, they need to be removed from the directory.

We have the smart group set up, with the specific Membership Statuses checked off, but instead of setting up Grace1 and Grace 2 (for 1 and 2 more months) it would be easier just to uncheck the "Current Membership" box and have it update the smart group.

Don't see how it can be done without code. You can build a View maybe and set the 'end date >= 1 month ago' and hence the Membership Directory will be up to date maybe

Cool idea - thanks for the quick response. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking an obvious checkbox elsewhere first.
