MySQL issue
March 13, 2013, 07:14:05 am
Hi all,

I wonder if someone can assist.

I've been trying in vain to get the latest CiviCRM up and running on my domain (with the latest version of Wordpress) for evaluating purposes for my nonprofit. Issue I eventually discovered was due to the host not having MySQL 5.1 or above installed and only have 5.07x with no timeline for upgrading. Is there an older version of CiviCRM that works with this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Tariq

Switch to a new host, far easier and faster. CiviHosting is fairly cheap and has a good reputation and specializes in CiviCRM (FYI: i am not associated with civihosting)

using an older version means no support and u'll be on your own for all bugs. Civi improves fairly quickly that its not worth the hassles, IMO

MySQL 5.0 and even 5.1 have known bugs (see http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/bugs.html and http://planet.mysql.com/entry/?id=16232 ) and were released years ago (5.1 was released 5 years ago) so I would definitely not recommending a host that uses such old software, that includes security vulnerabilities (see http://www.cvedetails.com/vulnerability-list/vendor_id-185/product_id-316/version_id-31825/Mysql-Mysql-5.0.7.html ).

I would agree with that. However I am associated with CiviHosting. :)
