uploading voter data
March 16, 2013, 03:07:50 am
Hello
I currently use my civicrm databases to collate and record information about volunteers. I would like to expand this and add information about voters too - probably about 45 000 of them. I am a bit uncertain where to start in terms of what the likely problems would be and the impact on resources available to the system. Uploading the data is straight forward (or shoudl be) and only involves name and address fields.

I was also wondering about increasing the security of such a sitye. AQt the moment I just keep the database and core up to date. I don't implement any other types of security - what's the next level for that?

Thanks
Caroline

In theory it's straightforward, but an import of that size is not simple. You will most likely have to break it into a set of CSV files. Or you might want to use a CLI tool to import.

There is no other security at the Drupal/CiviCRM level, aside from being up to date. Beyond that, security is a feature of your server and server environment.
