Looking for Advice on Additional features - Case Management?

I am in the process of analyzing CRM/DRM systems for our organization and am intrigued with CIVICRM. I am looking for like organizations that raise funds for aide or missions. We raise funds to support programs such as literacy in India, especially amongst  women. Some of the things we do that I do not see obvious in the list of features, is we assign a specific literacy class to a partner (donor).

We want to track that the partner has been assigned this class. When we get updates the fundraisers responsibility is to present the updates. To make sure the partners update is not missed on assignment we would like the system to be setup (or automatic) to assign a task to the fundraiser to update the partner every three months for the year. This sounds like something we would/could use case management for.


Are there others out there with this experience? Any advice, can CIVICRM do this?
