Return Path and CiviMail
March 21, 2013, 10:52:22 am
When I send an email to an invalid account using the "Actions" button, the notification goes to the appropriate return path account (return@example.org).  But, when using the same contact through CiviMail, the notification doesn't happen.

Also, the Bounce processor ignores the "Actions" emails.  I've tried several configuration options on the Mail Account for Bounce Processing.

I don't know what to look for any more.

The bounce processor only handles civimail related bounces (via the verp key which is in the email)

see what the reply-to address goes to in civimail, thats where civimail bounces are stored. Typically this needs to be a catch-all address

The "Reply-To" header for each is identical.  But, the "Return-Path" is different.  It's the catch-all address when using the "Actions" button.  But it's an unusual address from CiviMail.  How can I get CiviMail to set the Return Path correctly like the Actions button?

civimail uses verp (a standard protocol) to identify the mail message sent and for bounce detection. You cannot turn that off (w/o hacking the code).
