No tables in auto-created DB
March 21, 2013, 09:50:51 pm
I have a local webserver installed using MAMP on my MacBook running OSX Lion 10.7.5.  I followed instructions to get wordpress installed, but the forum won't allow me to link the instructions webpage.
I then followed instructions to install CiviCRM, again the forum won't let me post the link, but in this case it's the official wordpress instructions.

When I get to the step inside wordpress where I click "CiviCRM Settings", I type in the username/password and click "Re-check requirements", everything comes back green and "OK".  I then click "Check requirements and install", after which I immediately get the message "CiviCRM has been successfully installed".  I then try to click on the new CiviCRM tab at the bottom left in wordpress.

At this point I get a plain-text error page but your forum for some reason complains about external links when I include the error message.  I hope that feature is keeping out lots of spam, because it's making it really hard for me to describe my problem properly.
Edit: I've attached the plain text error page as a .txt to this message.

When I go to phpMyAdmin in the MAMP local webpage, the "civicrm" database has been created, but it contains no tables.  I tried searching for similar errors and asking on IRC, but found nothing so far.  I am hoping someone on this forum knows what to try next.

Sounds bizarre. Your error is

Quote
Table 'civicrm.civicrm_domain' doesn't exist

Are you certain you saw the success message for a CiviCRM install? If so, can you check the CiviCRM settings.php file and see what's there? Look for the two DB connect strings.

I couldn't see anything wrong in the civicrm.settings.php file, but I ended up deleting the whole plugins/civicrm directory and re-untaring the package into place.  Now it works.  Previously I had also tried to use the internationalization package, but maybe I put some files in the wrong place or something.  It works now.
