Wordpress Permissions
March 22, 2013, 09:50:45 am
I'm having trouble access elements of the civic dashboard from within Wordpress. I am an administrator on the site. For example, when I try to view and edit price sets, it throws up a "You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page." message. I have tried changing permissions of the corresponding file on the server to even 777, and it still doesn't work. Right now, all files in the civicrm folder are either at 755 or 777.

The one thing I thought about was that this installation is on a subdomain. It's root folder is a subfolder in the root of the primary domain. Could that be the issue? When I first try to click on the "View and Edit Price Fields" link it throws up the main domain Wordpress login screen. However, even when I logged in there, I'm still getting the same error message.

Anybody else have this issue?

I am getting a similar issue with an install also on a sub domain. When I try to access any features in the administrative console I get "You do not have permission to execute this url"

This started recently, I was able to get to admin functions when I first installed. I have a second install in the same domain (a different sub domain) which we are using to test features with a focus group and have no issues as described above.

I can't recreate the scenario in a test install and am a little hesitant to do too much poking around since the install with the permission issues is handling a registration at this point and is getting a lot of traffic.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

I just did a clean reinstall. Subdomain was no problem. It's working, now.  :)

Btw, I think it was you who originally posted on discounts using the WP version. If so, how did you get that to work? I need to apply four discount options to event registration and I have no idea of even where to start. Thanks.

Think your problem might have been rewrite issues in your .htaccess file
April 09, 2013, 06:25:29 am
In case someone else comes here with this problem, this might save a reinstall. In my experience,  the "you're not authorized" issues with civi usually come up when you move from: yourdomain.net to www.yourdomain.net and back. With and without the www are two different domains in Civi's view and if you're not logged in to BOTH, you're not authorized.

You can tell if this is the problem by logging in at both domains and see if the problem goes away. If that's your problem, then you should use rewrite in your .htaccess file - here's an example of the lines in the standard file provided by my hosting company. Just uncomment two lines. Sometimes being in a subdomain will result in the rewrite rules not being in the .htaccess file in the root of that subdomain.

 # If your site can be accessed both with and without the 'www.' prefix, you
  # can use one of the following settings to redirect users to your preferred
  # URL, either WITH or WITHOUT the 'www.' prefix. Choose ONLY one option:
  #
  # To redirect all users to access the site WITH the 'www.' prefix,
  # (http://example.com/... will be redirected to http://www.example.com/...)
  # uncomment the following:
  # RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. [NC]
  # RewriteRule ^ http://www.%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]
